uss emmoms advanced/deep SP*/Nitrox SP*

General description

The USS Emmons is a historical shipwreck. The vessel was directly involved on the invasion of Okinawa in April, 1945 during the WWII. After being struck by 5 Kamikaze aircrafts, the vessel now lies down in the Kouri island sea at a depth of 45m. One of the most iconic dives in Okinawa and a must dive site for experienced divers.

Diving operation

A check dive will be required to perform this dive. We will meet at the port at 7:30am. Due to the depth of the site, only 2 dives are allowed with minimum surface interval of 90 minutes. Safety Stop and extra stops will depend on the diving profile (Air or 26% Nitrox). We usually finish around 12:30pm.  We strongly recommend to stop at our base on the day before to get more detailed briefing about the safety procedures, dive profile standard and historical importance of the wreck. Deep Specialty* and Nitrox* certification is not a requirement but highly recommended.

What to bring

For a full day dive we recommend to bring water, snacks, a towel, sunglasses and sunscreen (prefer the ones reef-safe). Also bring some change as it will not be allowed to sit on car with wetsuits or wet clothes. There will always be a cooler box available for your food and drinks.
